The best extensions of the small world
“... This is the world of S laughter, after all! "
Little World is a whimsical game of constant fighting and fighting that ends a friendship.
Players mingle and match fantasy races with insanely randomized powers. Some may seem as harmless as water-bound elves. But you can end up with flying orcs raging around the battlefield. Everything is completely random.
But what happens when you play the game to the death?
Have you reluctantly picked up bivouac trolls three times already to make an opaque wall over the mountains?
After many Little World games, you may be hungry for more races and more funny combinations. Luckily for you, there are quite a few remarkable extensions of the little world, and we’re here to show you which ones are actually worth your time.

Best overall: Power Pack 2
Power supplies
The best place to start expanding your Small World universe is Power Packs. At the time, there were only small micro extensions that were issued as limited edition promotions. You can still find them yourself, but Days of Miracles reissued them in a package, so they were much easier to find instead of having to track down each individual mini extension.
Let's see what's inside.
Small World: Power Pack 1
The first Power Pack is a compilation of Be Not Afraid in A Spider's Web. There is also a tray in which all the small chips are nicely arranged. I love tray organizers.
Small world: don't be afraid ...
Be Not Afraid adds 5 brand new races with their own unique abilities.
- Barbarians: Their ability kind of sucks, but you get a LOT of barbarians on the table.
- homunculi: The longer it remains in the selection queue, the more Homunculi are added until they are picked up. Very unique.
- Pixies: They have a lot of servants, but they can only leave 1 at each step in each territory.
- Pygmies: My favorite in this package! They roll to take new pygmies out of the box every time they kill someone.
- Leprechauns: In the next plant, you can place pots of gold that are worth the extra points ... if you can keep them.
In addition, there are also 5 new special matching powers that can be combined between all races, past and present.
It includes the following skills:
- Barricade
- Mercenary
- damaged
- Imperial
- Catapult
They’re all adding new ways to receive coins, and more importantly, added skill strategies like corruption and catapult change your view of the board and add another layer of strategy.
- This is an extension to the Little World
- It adds depth and complexity to the basic game
- Add barbarians, homunculi, pixies, pygmies and greedy little ones ...
A small world: a spider web
Spider's Web is slightly smaller and adds only three races and abilities.
- Ice Witches: They are cute, but tiny. They damage the regions they control, making them harder to capture, and when you take that away from them, they’re less valuable.
- Skags: They drop loot chips on everything they win. It could be some money or most likely an ambush.
- Slingmen: These creepy creatures can swarm across a region and attack one region away. It doesn't have to be nearby. Nothing is safe.
For such a small expansion of spiders, the web offers many new ways to attack, throwing through the strategy a lot of vanilla strategies. It’s definitely no longer safe to simply hide behind a huge fortress of guys, especially if those Nightmare Slingmen can just jump over you.
As for the starting points for the extensions, Power Pack 1 kills them. With a ton of new races and abilities, the game feels completely fresh without changing too many ground rules. There’s a lot more in the handy box of everything you love in the little world.
Small World: Power Pack 2
These next two are quite interesting. They are the result of a design competition where fans could present their ideas for different races and powers. This is the result of more than 700 competitors and the final result. The final winners were selected and separated into two different thematic extensions: Cursed and Grand Dames.
- Three previous small expansions of the world in one field!
- Tray for convenient storage of everything in this power supply
- 42 different chips, 98 racing chips
Little world: damn it!
- Goblins: Goblins deal only with the weak. They can attack cheaply in failed races.
- kobolds: Kobolds usually work in packs, so they must have at least 2 in each region. Fortunately, there are tons of them.
The races in Cursedo are fine, but the skills are what make this mini extension shine. There are many new ways to attack and score points and many evil abilities that you can use against your opponents. One of the coolest new ones is “Were-,” which turns your race into an animal giving great impetus to every other step.
The main winner in my book, however, is Ransacking. It allows you to steal coins from your opponents when you attack them. Win-win ... or win-lose, I think.
Cursed includes 5 new skills:
- Damn it
- Horde
- Marodovanje
- Robbery
- We were-
- This is an extension to the Little World
- It adds depth and complexity to the basic game
- 2 New Race Banners and Tokens (Kobolds & Goblins)
Small World: Grand Dames
All the ladies of the Little World play with very unique abilities. The real winners in this group are the White Ladies. There are only a few, but once they hit the board, they don’t leave.
- Gypsies: He adds coins to abandoned locations.
- Priestesses: As you fall, gather in a strong white tower.
- White Ladies: Once rejected, they can no longer be removed.
Ladies have two new abilities. Both have a serious tactical advantage, but historians are my favorite. If there are tons of declining races on the board, you can quickly load up winning points. What don't you like?
Grand Dames includes:
- Historian
- Peaceful
- This is an extension to the Little World
- It adds depth and complexity to the basic game
- A great addition to the popular game Small World
Small world: royal bonus
Finally, the last mini extension to be installed on Power Pack 2 is the Royal Bonus. It was originally released on Kickstarter, but you no longer have to deal with their system to choose it.
Among the new races, Igor is probably the most interesting. I like strong things, so thematically separating the corpses of your enemies to recruit new soldiers is a really nice touch.
- Fauns: Fauns and Victim get 1 new token for each match
- Igor: Collect player chips and turn them into new games.
- Shrubs: Forest regions occupied by shrubs are immune even during decline.
Royal Bonus has 3 new abilities:
- Water
- Behemoth
- Fireball
It’s nice to have them, but not anything groundbreaking that we haven’t seen before.
Little World: Heavenly Islands
Your Little World is getting ... bigger?
Apparently the islands like to migrate south in the winter and luckily they stopped just above your personal battlefield for dominance. No worries, the map is still small enough to be irritating and everyone is fighting for both the new and the lower islands.
To climb above the rest, there are a whole host of new races and powers that give some cool new ways to play with your aerial Adirondacks.
Sky Islands adds a brand new board that awards extra coins to hold the entire celestial island, along with 7 new races and powers.
- A new extension for a small world
- The new board of the heavenly islands offers players additional space for ...
- New races and special powers expand the ability to repeat ...
Small world: river world
Not to be confused with Kevin Costner’s greatest film, River World is more in line with the traditional expansion of the big box. It replaces the original map with a new version of the river, which adds quite a few water features and changes some basic rules.
River World adds new events that happen at the end of each lap and each race gets its own boat to cross the high seas. You don’t get anything to win them unless you have special abilities, but they take you from point A to point B.
The new addition to River World is an extension that isn’t just adding a few new races. It adds a lot more themed to the whole game, so if your group of players is looking for something with a little more pizza, this might be the choice.
- "He adds rivers, ports and pirates to his small world collection ...
- "Random events contribute to exciting and changing gaming"
- "Two double-sided maps offer many new gameplay options"
Small world: kingdoms
Realms is a utilitarian expansion. This may not sound super exciting, but it has a special place in this lineup and that place is a coincidence.
As if the Little World needed a more random opportunity (I hate to die that ).
Realms adds new tiles that fit, allowing players to recreate their board. This may not seem like much at first, but any fan will know that changing the board can definitely add a ton of variety to the game. There are also some imaginative scenarios that you can set up and play, such as “Rusted Throne”.
Similar to the free version of the print and playback prepared by the fans, but this one also has added scripts and high-quality production value that you met with the pees on Days of Wonder.
- This is an extension that you can use for Small World or Small ...
- It is not a stand-alone game
- Adds depth and complexity
A small world: stories and legends
Legends adds more than 50 new events that are triggered throughout the game. They are all divided into categories, so some can become just a pleasant surprise or a little annoyance, while others can completely decimate your strengths on the board.
It’s always fun to add a little story to the world.
- Any 2 to 5 players can play at the same time
- This is an extension to the Little World
- It adds depth and complexity to the basic game
Small world: the underworld
Okay, so it's not really about enlargement.
Small World: Underground is a standalone game in the Small World universe. Instead of fighting on a brightly lit battlefield, you will dive deep underground and fight in a dark cavernous battlefield. Presents all new races, events and venues.
Think of this as an alternative starting point for the vanilla game, and the next entry wouldn’t make sense if I didn’t mention it.
- Small World Underground - Once you’re in the hole, keep swimming
- It's a standalone game
- Recommended for experienced players in a small world
Small world: tunnels
Yes, free stuff! If you own Small World: Underground and the original Small World, you'll eventually ask yourself, "Can I combine the two to make a medium-sized world?"
The answer is: "Of course you can!". Small World Tunnels is a free downloadable extension that allows you to bridge the gap between the above-ground and the underworld, making it a much bigger and more exciting map.
The tunnels are supposed to fill the gap between the original and the Undergrounds, allowing you to play both at the same time.

Small World: Necromancer Island
If you’ve ever accused the Little World of lacking themed elements, look no further than Necromancer Island.
Remember that big annoying lake in the middle of the board that could only be run by one race that could be used if they had the right power? Well, the Necromancer set up shop there and that’s writing bad news for everyone. When the players' chips are destroyed, the Necromancer picks up their souls and will constantly harass the ghosts to attack anything and everything.
Players must now prevent the growing threat of the Necromancer while attacking and defending their territory from opportunistic opponents.
It’s a really fantastic extension that makes the game feel completely different.
- To play this extension, you need to have a complete copy of the little world
- Older than 8 years
- For 3 to 6 players
Small World: Small World Leaders
Days of Wonder really likes their design contests. Leaders is a new extension that adds a bit of a twist to standard gaming. Each race now has a leading token that awards and acts like any other token. True leaders lead from the front, so they will never be able to step into an unconquerable space. They are also worth a few extra points in the ransom if your opponent catches them, so don’t leave them undefended.
- Age: 8 years and older
- Playback time: 40 to 80 minutes
- Number of players: 2 to 5
