# 1. Neuroshima Hex 3.0

Players: 1-4
Play time: 30 minutes

If you are going to live in a post-apocalyptic world, you would of course prefer to live in a world that is well established. Neuroshima Hex 2013, originally released in 3.0 at Z-Man Games, has a veritable cult of fans who create tournaments that bring together players from many countries.

This strategy game allows players to battle armies against each other, hoping the latter will survive. The players chose one of four armies: Borgo, Hegemonia (Hegemonia), Moloch and Posterunek (Outpost). Each army has 34 playing pieces (tiles) of soldiers, support tiles and special actions. Victory is achieved when all enemies are destroyed or when your staff is least damaged at the end of the game.

There are a lot of expansion packs available, which means the game has a lot of replayability and you can even play it solo - if you’re really the only one surviving the apocalypse.

For those of you who may not have played the video game yet , the Fallout series has sold tens of millions of copies and is a true modern classic . This elegant adaptation of the board game is a legal series, which makes it absolutely necessary for fans of the game, and as a standalone it is accessible and fun.

Players start on the edge of an unexplored landscape and have to gather influence and compete in various skill-based tasks against mutated creatures and conflicting factions, hoping to survive the horrors of this desolate world. The gameplay is impressive with a modular board and extensions, which means the game is a great way to enjoy the hours before your impending death!

# 3. The greatest apocalypse

Players: 1- 6
Playing time: 45-90 minutes

Sometimes an apocalypse is needed to unite people. Definitely an adventure in this if you want to survive and win the game in the end.

The map is randomly created and offers a huge variety of initial scenarios. When players take turns, they must make a wise decision about whether to fight the monsters that gather, search for resources, explore new territory, or equip themselves with weapons. Collaboration is key, as you can’t win without the help of others (good advice with or without an apocalypse!).

# 4. Armageddon

Players: 3 - 4
Playing time: 90 minutes

Probably the first thing you will notice is the high quality of the component materials that accompany this game. The quality of workmanship and artwork is of a very high standard. But this game does a lot more than just look good.

A family-friendly board game (yes, really!), Armageddon is accessible and allows the first players to rise immediately. The game focuses on rebuilding civilization and is played in 6 rounds. Firmly sitting in the installation of the genre of strategy game workers , for those who want to help rebuild after Armageddon, then this is definitely for you.

# 6. Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game

Dead of Winter board game

Players: 2 - 5
Playing time: 60-120 minutes

Dead Winter is described as a meta -cooperative psychological game of survival . It sounds impressive and it is. The game is structured in such a way that players must work together to achieve a common goal - to survive a harsh winter in a post-apocalyptic world - while fulfilling the individual goal of their character.

So players should ideally balance both tasks. But… they don’t have to. They can simply pursue their goal - although that won’t allow you to truly ‘win’.

The mix of choices gives the game a long lifespan and replayability, allowing you to choose different approaches at each game session. So will you help the greater good or ensure your own survival?

# 7. The country has fallen

Players: 2-5
Playing time: 120-300 minutes

If you are looking for a game that combines elements of strategy, with card making and light role playing then this is the right one for you. And if the nuclear apocalypse isn’t scary enough, then let’s add another chemical apocalypse with a few elements of the Cold War. Based on the map of America, this is a really crazy world!

This sandbox-style game combines adventure, politics, and economics, and each game of this vast world has many variables; maps, player interactions, stories, strategies and threats. You will never have the same experience twice.

# 8. Outlive: Underwater (extension)

Players: 2-4
Playing time: 40-110 minutes

The first thing you’ll notice when you unpack the box is that the designers have created wonderful artwork and solid components, which always contributes to the gameplay. The game is easy to understand from the first game and after one round (from 6 per game) you will feel comfortable with the mechanics of the game.

Events in 2084: Five years have passed since the original game. This time, the clans are struggling to survive in their underground shelters. They are attacked by a group of robots controlled by scientists.

Conrad Bordage begins an investigation to find out where they come from. The actors strive to unravel the mysteries behind this, in a compelling story of future survival.

# 9. Posthuman: Saga

Players: 1-4
Playing time: 30-120 minutes

The game has three playing options: solo, competitive with 2 to 4 players or team against. It uses the mechanics of a game with a finely crafted story to create an experience that will challenge your system-breaking abilities while immersing you in a rich post-apocalyptic world.

Each player meets the goals of different characters with different playing styles. The Posthuman Saga focuses on tactical decisions on two levels - a journey expressed with an innovative modular map of puzzle tiles , and an individual story and battle encounters.

# 10. That war of mine

This hint is a single player game

Players: 1-6
Playing time: 45-120 minutes

This War of Mine originally started as a video game for survival in the war, developed and released by the Polish game development company 11 Bit Studios. The game differs from most war-themed video games in that it focuses on the civilian experience of war rather than fighting on the front lines. Adapting the board game genuinely sticks to this approach. It should be noted that this game is recommended for those over 18 years of age.

The goal is to survive in the besieged city; they struggle with food shortages , medicine, and the constant danger of snipers and enemy carcasses. It is impressive and offers a war experience seen from an unknown perspective. During the day, snipers outside prevent you from leaving the shelter, so you need to focus on maintaining your hiding place.

There is a standalone mission or up to 6 players can join it. Every game is different, but the essence of the game is in the power of humanity and our ability to survive even in the worst of reality.
